New test devices for escape doors

With a new test device for doors, gates and accessories the MPA NRW can now also test electronically locked touchbars (EVP). These escape doors save lives in the event of a fire. Thus, the requirements for material and functionality are correspondingly high.

Door locks and mountings of escape doors cannot be combined at random. The lock can only be tested and certified with a corresponding strike plate as a counterpart and the suitable mounting „as package“.

The „Guideline on electrical locking systems for doors in escape doors“ (EltVR) allows only an electrical locking against fraudulent use of escape door systems for instance by burglary. The innovative lockings elements just tested in the laboratory of the MPA NRW substitute the external escape door openers or magnetic clamps used so far.

With this new technology the escape door does no longer have to be locked by hand: an integrated automatic latch bolt guarantees an always locked door.
