Test set-up for horizontally built-in polystyrene hard foam panels

Polystyrene hard foam panels that are used in horizontal application and are to be classified as building material of building material class B1 (low flammability) according to DIN 4102-1 cannot be evaluated by tests in the fire shaft according to DIN 4102-16. For this case a test procedure specially developed by the MPA NRW has to be conducted. Only polystyrene hard foam panels are excluded, which are to be used as visible ceiling coverings with a thickness of < = 80 mm or under floor pavement.

Also composite panels with polystyrene hard foam that are to be used in horizontal application and are to obtain building material class B1 have to be tested by the test procedure developed by the MPA NRW. Only composite panels to be used under floor pavement are excluded.

Polystyrene hard foam panels and composite panels with polystyrene hard foam receive respective application restrictions in the test certificates resp. application attestations if the tests were not conducted in horizontal installation.   Further information about the test procedure can be foundhere.
