The competence centre Radiation Protection in the MPA NRW is divided into the fields of dosimetry, expert departments and special services.

12,000 companies use personal dosimeters

In the field of personal dosimetry the MPA NRW is competent as an official measuring point for approximately 12,000 companies. According to the guidelines of the Radiation Protection Ordinance and the X-Ray Ordinance the users are provided with personal dosimeter probes. These are usually exchanged once a month and evaluated in the measuring point. Thus, more than 110,000 personal dose values are determined every month. With the officially approved expert departments Radiation Protection Ordinance and X-Ray Ordinance the MPA NRW offers the prescribed on-site facility tests as well as support and consultation when planning facilities and rooms. High quality standard

Measurements in the field of radiation protection demand absolute reliability. Therefore the quality assurance for radiation protection is a key issue. In the field of personal dosimetry official dosimeters with design approval are offered by the Federal Physical-Technical Institute (PTB) that are continuously controlled by participating in regular national and international comparison measurements. Of course the measuring point has been accredited as a testing laboratory according to ISO 17025. Radioactivity measurements and radon determination have also been permitted according to ISO 17025.
