Even building materials made of combustible materials are tested in the MPA NRW with a clean conscience: We work with a unique and highly developed exhaust gas cleaning system so that even the highest demands to environmental protection are optimally fulfilled.

An exhaust gas cleaning system was designed for the fire testing centre in Erwitte that removes the greatest part of the toxic substances from the off-gas stream by thermal post combustion with a downstream washer so that in the best case only carbon dioxide and water remain as product of combustion. Only with such a facility it was possible to observe the stipulated limiting values, especially in the case of dioxins and furans. The effectivity of the system especially with regard to dioxins is regularly checked by the authorities in charge.
